Henarathgoda Old historical Railway Station

In 1864, the British constructed this Ceylon railway station to transport tea and coffee to Colombo from Kandy. It is considered as one of the oldest stations along the Colombo-Kandy rail route. The Henarathgoda Old historical Railway Station is gazetted as an archaeologically protected monument and conserved by the Department of Archaeology.

Now station is no longer in use as there is a modern railway station near the old Henarathgoda Old historical Railway station. You should visit this place. Most people who live in Gampaha haven’t seen this old historical Railway Station.
